Argentina international Veron arrived at Old Trafford to a lot of excitement, being seen as the very man and type of player United needed to take their already strong side to the next level, with Alex Furgeson famously touting him as a “world-class footballer” who would “bring personality” to the side.
At times in European games, Veron showed that he did indeed have that touch of class, but in England he struggled to make much of an impact for United, and struggled to get into the side due to the faster pace of the Premier League.
