Eric Bailly thanks Mourinho for Old Trafford opportunity

Eric Bailly became the second player after Jesse Lingard to thank recently sacked Manchester United boss Jose Mourinho in public.

Jose’s departure from the Manchester United team was announced on Tuesday morning by the club’s communication department and while it was not the biggest shock of the season, it certainly left a bitter taste in the football community; it is never a pretty sight to see a manager, let alone someone who had previously won so much, get the axe.

Things quickly worsened however, when 45 minutes after the departure of Jose was announced, Paul Pogba came up with an instagram post which cryptically sent the message of the Frenchman being the last man standing. Given the repeated clashes between Jose and Paul, the incident was seen as a rather juvenile attempt to disrespect the Portuguese coach.

A day after the incident Jesse Lingard has now come out with a thank you message for the coach and Eric Bailly has followed suit. The 24-year-old defender said on Twitter: ‘Whatever they may say, I will always be thankful to the person who gave me the chance to make my debut at Old Trafford.  Thank you for what you have taught me. Good luck, coach.’

Bailly’s message will surely feel the Portuguese boss feel better amidst the endless media controversy regarding his turbulent tenure as United coach.
