Icardi may eventually leave Inter, but stay in the city of Milan.
AC Milan are urged to make a bizarre move for Mauro Icardi, according to the latest reports in Italy.
Argentine star Mauro Icardi has been in the center of an everlasting transfer saga this summer. He has been linked with numerous clubs in the past, including Serie A sides Roma, Juventus, Napoli and Ligue 1 wealthy giants Monaco.
However, it seems that a new surprising contender for Icardi’s signature has emerged, as Inter Milan have two weeks to persuade their former captain to leave the club. According to Il Giornale, arch city rivals AC Milan are tempted to enquire about the availability of Mauro Icardi.
The player reportedly wants to remain in Milan, Italy – which would be the main focus of the Rossoneri in potential negotiations. In addition, the Nerazzuri are keen on offloading the Argentine this summer, as the relationship has long passed the breaking point.
With a move to the Rossoneri, the two Milanese sides would solve their respective issues, while Marotta would avoid reinforcing a direct competitor for the Scudetto.
Recently, the former AC Milan CEO Adriano Galliani admitted he would like to see the Argentine wearing the Red and Black jersey: “Icardi is a very good striker. If I could, I would sign him right away.”
The 26-year-old troubled striker has scored 121 goals in 215 appearances in all competitions for Inter Milan.
