Newport County boss, Michael Flynn to looking to make the biggest upset in recent FA Cup history by beating Manchester City this upcoming weekend.
The two sides are set to face off against each other at Rodney Parade and you can pretty clearly tell who is the underdog in this match-up.
Like all competitive sides, the Exiles deserve to feel hopeful of their chances after collecting wins over Leicester City and Middlesbrough in the previous rounds of the competition.
Speaking to Friday’s Alan Brazil Sports Breakfast, Flynn said, “It’s going to be difficult, I’m under no illusions whatsoever about how difficult it’s going to be. They’re arguably the best team in Europe and I think they’ve got the best manager in the world at the moment in Pep Guardiola. It really is David versus Goliath.”
“You look at the finance difference between the clubs, the facilities and everything… but you never know. It’s the FA Cup and stranger things have happened. I hope they bring a strong team. I want to pit ourselves against the best Man City. I want to see how we do against Pep Guardiola in a tactical battle and how we can manage them.”
“I know you’re probably thinking, ‘Has he lost the plot here? Is he actually thinking they can do something?’ But If I don’t think that then how are my players going to believe that?”
“I’ve got to lead them the right way and give them the belief that if they can play the game of their lives they can stop the likes of Aguero and De Bruyne. Let’s not forget a lot of them marked Harry Kane out of the game for long periods, the players have that ability when they’re on their game.”
