Danilo D’Ambrosio reveals he rejected Chelsea move

0

Inter Milan defender Danilo D’Ambrosio has revealed that he turned down the chance to join Premier League side Chelsea when he was a youngster.

The 25-year-old has admitted in an interview that he had the chance to join the English side nine years ago when he was just 16-years-old, however, he revealed that he snubbed the move due to family reasons.

D’Ambrosio admitted that he was excited about the chance to play for Chelsea, and even stated that he was offered a very lucrative contract, but was told by his family members that money isn’t everything, and that eventually lead him to turning down the move.

“It is true, I was 16 years old and Chelsea wanted me,” he told Italian magazine Calcio2000.

“I remember that we went to London, my father and I. It was his first plane ride and I remember that he was more tense for the journey than for anything else.

“I remember everything, the crazy atmosphere, the facilities, fantastic but, in the end, in agreement with my family, I decided not to go there…

“Why? There was a fear of being too hasty. Certainly, they offered me a nice contract, but my parents told me that money is not everything in life and also I did not want to split the family at that time.”

‘We wouldn’t stand in Blind’s way’

0

Manchester United have been encouraged to sign Daley Blind, with Ajax suggesting that they wouldn’t stand in the way should a big offer come in.

United have been continuely linked with the £15million rated defender throughout the summer. Louis van Gaal’s team have also been linked with Real Madrid winger Angel di Maria, as he looks to add width to the side.

And Frank De Boer admits it would be hard to keep a player if a big-money offer arrived.

“We all know that if there is a certain amount on the table we cannot refuse. Then we’ll wish him all the best,” he said.

But I have not heard anything about it, so I am assuming that he still stays for a year.

“I think it’s best for him, but on the other hand, the temptation is there if such a big club comes.”

Blind, who made 29 league appearances for Ajax last term, was spotted house-hunting in Manchester earlier this week.

Jose Mourinho confirms Petr Cech is staying

0

Chelsea manager Jose Mourinho has insisted that Petr Cech will be staying at the club this season, despite the chances that Thibaut Courtois could become the new number-one.

The race to be Mourinho’s number-one is hotting up with the new Premier League season getting underway this weekend, and despite reports suggesting one ‘keeper is likely to leave Stamford Bridge this Summer if they aren’t given the first-team role, Mourinho has confirmed that there is no chance in Cech or Courtois leaving.

The Blues get their season underway on Monday evening away at newly-promoted Burnley, and the Portuguese man has revealed that his number-one will be identified on Sunday.

However, he has insisted that Cech is not leaving the club this Summer, no matter what role he plays this season.

‘There is no offer, there is no possibility,’ he said. ‘We have two of the three best goalkeepers in the world with Cech and Courtois.

‘For me it is a great problem to have [deciding on who is number one]. Every manager in the world would like to have Courtois, Cech and [Mark] Schwarzer.

‘I am very happy with what I have in the squad in terms of experience and the number of players under the age of 21.’

Cech has been linked with several European clubs, including; Real Madrid, Paris Saint-Germain and AS Monaco.

Arsenal set to sell Podolski

0

The German World Cup winner has been linked with moves to several clubs over the past few weeks, with Turkish and German clubs tracking the winger’s situation.

And reportedly, Arsene Wenger is still open to the idea of the club selling Podolski before the end of the transfer window, as long as the Gunners can recoup the £11m they paid to acquire his services two years ago.

Turkish giants Galatasaray are thought to be leading the race to capture his signature, while Besiktas are also known to be keen, along with several Bundesliga clubs.

Podolski featured just 27 times for Arsnela in all competitions last campaign and now with the arrival of star signing Alexis Sanchez and the return of Theo Walcott from injury, a spot in the first team will be even harder to come by for the 29 year-old.

Chelsea want shock triple transfer deal

0

Chelsea manager Jose Mourinho is hoping to bring in Loic Remy, Sami Khedira and Mehdi Benatia in an almost unbelievable triple transfer deal, as he looks to finish off his new look team.

The Blues have already been busy in this summers transfer window, bringing in Diego Costa, Cesc Fabregas and Felipe Luis, but reports suggest that they still want more.

The Daily Express suggests that Chelsea are beginning to open talks with Roma centre back, Mehdi Benatia in a deal worth £30,000,000, whilst Remy and Khedira are also on Mourinho’s wish list.

Loic Remy, currently at Premier League new boys QPR, was set to join Liverpool this summer before the deal collapsed, but almost at a bargain price, he is available to Champions League clubs for a fee said to be around £8,500,000.

With Drogba recovering from an injury, and with Fernando Torres struggling for consistency, Remy seems to be an inexpensive strike option.

Mourinho is also keen on bringing in German midfielder Sami Khedira. The Real Madrid man has been heavily linked with a move to Chelsea over the past 2 seasons, but Chelsea face rivalry from Premier League rivals Arsenal for Khedira’s signature.

Paul Scholes blasts Louis van Gaal

0

Paul Scholes has hit out at new Manchester United boss Lous van Gaal and the signings that he has made this summer.

United have spent £60million on Luke Shaw and Ander Herrera this summer, but just missed out on signing Arsenal centre-back Thomas Vermaelan,

Van Gaal is facing frustration in his pursuit of Sporting Lisbon star Marcos Rojo, while moves for Arturo Vidal, Angel Di Maria and Daley Blind have not progressed.

And Scholes believes United’s failings in the transfer market mean the title race will be between just Manchester City and Chelsea.

“I think the title is between City and Chelsea, they’ve both made decent signings,” Scholes said.

“The next two places are between United, Liverpool and Arsenal. United will be looking for a better season than the last and that shouldn’t be too difficult.

“I’m sure Van Gaal would have liked to have signed more players. Midfield is where I thought they might have brought in a couple.”

Nemanja Vidic, Rio Ferdinand and Patrice Evra all left this summer and Scholes is surprised they have not been properly replaced.

“(Toni) Kroos goes for £20million and (Cesc) Fabregas to Chelsea, I thought they would have been in for those type of players but it doesn’t look like they were,” Scholes added.

“Remember the players they have lost – Rio, Vidic, Evra, Giggs. Massive playrs who have won 30 titles between them.

“It’s only Shaw and Herrera who have come in and (Juan) Mata and (Marouane) Fellaini who haven’t won the league. I just worry that City and Chelsea have a bit too much for them.”

Wenger not interested in Cavani

0

Arsenal boss Arsene Wenger believes that he does not need to sign a new striker this summer.

The Gunners, like Liverpool and Manchester United, have been linked with PSG striker Edinson Cavani, with reports suggesting that the club were readying a bid for the forward. The reports were claiming that Wenger was ready to launch a £51million bid should PSG sign Angel di Maria from Real Madrid.

Cavani is thought to be eager to leave Paris, and his agent Claudio Anellucci has revealed that Liverpool and Manchester United are both ‘very interested’ in the Uruguyan,

He said: “There has been much intersest in the player during the last six months.

“I can confirm that Cavani heard proposals from Liverpool and Arsenal.

“Already said he would love to play in England, but has not yet made a final decision.”

But it seems that Wenger has now ruled out a move for Cavani,

He said: “Up-front we have plenty of candidates.

“Joel Campbell has joined us plus the new signings.

“Walcott is coming back at the end of the month so if you look at the number of players we have up-front we have unbelievable strength.”

The news of Wenger’s plans not sign Cavani will disappoint many Gunners fans.

The Arsenal faithful have been crying out for the Frenchman to sign a world-class striker this summer in order to take the some of the workload off Olivier Giroud, who played a staggering 51 games last season.

Roberto Martinez dismisses Chelsea having first option to sign duo Ross Barkley and John Stones

0

Everton manager Roberto Martinez has dismissed suggestions that there is a ‘gentleman’s’ agreement between his side and Chelsea after signing Romelu Lukaku for a record £28 million eariler this summer and also bringing Chelsea winger Christian Atsu on loan to Goodison Park. Martinez has praised the way club chaiman Bill Kenwright has built a relationship with Chelsea, but is adament there is no ‘gentleman’s’ agreement between the two Premier League clubs.

“We have a good relationship and a professional relationship and I want to believe that they feel that they can trust us in sending players out on loan,” said Martinez.

“I don’t think that relationship goes any further.

“The chairman has been instrumental on forging that relationship more than anyone.

In addition to Lukaku and Atsu joining the club, Martinez has also lured Gareth Barry, Muhamed Besic and Brendan Galloway this summer, but has re-assured the media that he is not ‘desperate’ to bring any other acquisitions to Goodison Park.

“He has developed that bridge between the two clubs and there is a possibility for both to use it in a good way, but there is no commitment in any sort of future deals.”

“I am very happy, today, at the start of the season, with the business we have done,” said the Spaniard ahead of his side’s trip to Leicester for their Premier League opener.

“If there is anything (in the transfer market) which will help the team until the next window opens we will always look into that but in terms of the squad we have I am delighted with what we achieved and the continuity we got.”We have brought the right characters into the club. Now we are in a position where I am desperate to see how the team reacts to the first game of the season.

“In terms of being desperate to bring someone in the answer is ‘no’ but we are going to use the period from now until the window closes to see how strong the squad is.

“If there is anything we need to help the players we will do that.”

Malky Mackay favourite to land Crystal Palace job

0

Malky Mackay is the odds on favourite to be appointed as the new manager of Crystal Palace, according to Sky Sports.

The Scot is in line to replace former Palace boss Tony Pulis, who resigned from his post at Selhurst Park last night, after 10 months in charge of the club, a spell in which he guided the Eagles to an 11th place finish in the Premier League.

Pulis cited a break down in communication with co-owner Steve Parish as the reason he left the South London club, leaving Mackay in the frame for a swift return to management.

Mackay has been out of a job since being sacked by Cardiff City in December, having took the Welsh club up to the Premier League as League Champions of the Championship.

He stated to Sky Sports that he is looking at getting back into management, with the right club though:

“At the moment I’m just waiting,” he said. “I had a couple of opportunities in the summer that I didn’t feel I was ready for.

“So it’s really just a question of wait and see –  but I really want to get back into it and manage again.

“I really enjoyed the challenge of coaching against some of the top coaches in the world and pitting your wits against them.

“Everyone would love to manage in the Premier League – but there are only so many clubs – I certainly enjoyed it last year and I would love to have the chance to manage there again.”

The Pulis departure came just 48 hours before the start of the new Premier League season, with Keith Millen set to take caretaker charge of Palace as they visit Arsenal at the Emirates Stadium on Saturday.

Bayern Munich and Manchester United enter race for Manolas

0

Arsenal have been joined by three footballing giants in the race to sign Olympiakos centre-back Kostas Manolas, as Juventus, Bayern Munich and Manchester United all enter the race to sign the 23-year-old.

The Greek international has already been told by his club that he can leave this Summer, as long as the interested parties pay at least £8million for his services.

According to reports, Arsenal were clear favourites to sign the defender, but with the move stalling, United and Munich have now joined the race.

Arsene Wenger sees Manolas as the perfect replacement for Thomas Vermaelen, who left in order to join FC Barcelona in a £15m deal, and despite Juve reportedly making a formal offer for the Greece centre-back, it was still the North London club who were in pole position.

However, Louis Van Gaal is now in the market for a centre-back after Rio Ferdinand and Nemanja Vidic both departed Old Trafford, and their potential move for Marcos Rojo has hit a stumbling block due to third party ownership.

Allegri won’t be selling Vidal

0

Juventus manager Massimilano Allegri has stated that midfielder Arturo Vidal will NOT be moving to Manchester United, reports the Daily Star.

Vidal, aged 27 has been United’s prime target this summer, with Van Gaal keen to bid around £40 million for the Chile international, who impressed at this summer’s World Cup in Brazil.

Italian press also claim that a deal for Vidal, plus Javier Hernandez and Nani in exchange was almost done, claims that are wide of the mark according to Allegri, who confirmed that Vidal is set to remain in Turin with the Serie A club.

But Allegri wants Vidal to stay and said: “Vidal? He’s not going anywhere.”

Manchester United told to pay £24 million for Rojo

0

Sporting Lisbon have upped their demands for fullback Marcos Rojo, after telling Manchester United that they must pay £24 million to sign him, according to The Daily Express.

Louis Van Gaal had originally bid £16 million for the Argentine World Cup man, with Rojo himself trying to force the move through.

Lisbon are trying to bump up the fund for him, to end a legal dispute involving the player, with Sporting only set to receive a small percentage of the fee should a deal go through, due to a third party ownership of Rojo himself.

Hence why the Portuguese side are holding out for a rather large sum.

Louis Van Gaal is apparently growing frustrated with United’s transfer movement, with Luke Shaw and Ander Herrera their prize deals to date, costing in a fee of £60 million.

Chelsea prepared to accept offers for Petr Cech!

0

The Blues are preparing for a flood of offers for Petr Cech amid fears he is losing the top spot to Thibaut Courtois in the race to be first-choice goalkeeper.

Jose Mourinho has insisted he will not reveal before Sunday who will start their opening game at Burnley on Monday night.

Neither has been given any indication but Courtois appears confident of getting the nod after playing for 90 minutes in a friendly against Real Sociedad on Tuesday.

Cech has been No.1 since he arrived from Rennes a decade ago, seems less certain and will have to consider his future if Mourinho opts for the young Belgian. Both have two years left on their contracts.
Paris Saint-Germain and Monaco are keen to lure Cech back to France. Real Madrid are also interested and all three are ready to step up their pursuit.

Meanwhile, Courtois has been warned he must become first-choice goalkeeper at Chelsea if he wants to continue as Belgium No 1.

Sterling set to pen new Liverpool deal

0

Raheem Sterling is set to sign a new deal at Liverpool, according to The Daily Mirror.

The highly rated 19 year old enjoyed a fine season for the Anfield outfit, scoring nine goals in 30 Premier League games, as Liverpool finished second in the Premier League table.

Sterling only signed a contract extension last year, but Liverpool are set to act swiftly and offer the England international quadruple wages to his current deal, to starve off interest from Spanish La Liga side Real Madrid.

The young Englishman currently earns around £30k-a-week, but this new contract could see him leap up to around £120k-a-week, seeing him become one of the club’s top earners.

Liverpool manager Brendan Rodgers recently stated that Sterling is a big part of the clubs, and his plans for the future.

‘This kid is only going to get better. He’s way above the level from when he first came in. Tactically, technically, and what has been beautiful to watch with Raheem has been his maturity.

‘He’s turning into a beautiful young man, with all the responsibility. He’s still only 19, but in big games he’s performed and he’s a wonderful talent.’

Liverpool confident of landing Wilfried Bony

0

Liverpool are confident that they can sign Swansea City striker Wilfried Bony in the next few days, after reportedly offering the Welsh side £16million for the Ivorian.

Bony has been strongly linked with an exit from the Liberty Stadium, after an impressive debut season in England, and with Liverpool in dire need of a new striker due to Luis Suarez leaving for FC Barcelona, the 25-year-old could be Brendan Rodgers’ answer.

The Reds have already had a formal offer of around £12.5m rejected this Summer, but Rodgers is now ready to make a new bid, after he gave up on signing the likes of Radamel Falcao and Edinson Cavani.

Rodgers is confident that a £16m bid is enough for Gary Monk to accept, and the Merseyside club want to wrap the deal up in time for their away trip to Manchester City next weekend.

However, according to reports, a major stumbling block is Bony’s wage-demands.

The striker is reportedly keen on the move to Anfield, but is asking for a whopping pay-rise, but due to the interest in the move, Liverpool are confident they can reduce the striker’s demands.
