6. Howard Kendall
It was unlucky that the deceased Howard Kendall was never a full England international during his playing days. The talented midfielder played for Everton where they formed a deadly trio with teammates Alan Ball and Colin Harvey. Alan Ball won 72 caps for England, including a world cup title, Harvey only managed a single cap while Kendall could not even get a single cap with England. He won the league and the FA Cup with Everton in 1970, he also played for Preston, Birmingham, Stoke and Blackburn. Despite captaining the English youth team to the ”Little World Cup” in 1964, Kendall was never called up to the English senior team.
