Liverpool in the lead to sign Valdes

0

The Spaniard has bags of experience but he is not the only free agent goalkeeper on the market.

Valdes is currently suffering from a cruciate ligament injury and he will likely sign after he fully recovers from the injury and can pass his club medical.

The keeper who has experience both at the Nou Camp and at international level, will provide a wealth of knowledge of the game and can compete for a place in the starting line-up against Belgian Simon Mignolet, who just completed his debut season at Anfield.

It is reported that the Merseyside club will wait until October to make a move for Valdes due to the injury which has already kept the 32 year-old away from a move to Monaco.

There is currently nothing stopping any other clubs from sneaking in and hijacking the proposed move but Brenden Rodgers’ side are confident they will secure the signing before the start of the new year.

Real Madrid line up Hazard as Ronaldo replacement

0

Madrid could try to sign the Belgian next summer, with Ronaldo potentially on the way out of the Bernabeu

In a sensational move, Eden Hazard is being lined up as a replacement for Cristiano Ronaldo at Real Madrid, according to reports today. The future of the Portuguese international has recently been up in the air, with the player thought to have fallen out with club executives.

It means that the ex-Man United man could be set to quit the Bernabeu at the end of the season and it has lead to Real reportedly drawing up a list of replacements, with Eden Hazard top of that list. Any move is currently unlikely but if Ronaldo does indeed end up forcing a move away next year, then Madrid will move to sign the Belgian.

If these two deals are done, they will most certainly be mega-money moves. The Blues themselves would likely demand at least ÂŁ60m for Hazard, with Jose Mourinho determined not to lose any key players. As for Ronaldo, a move would be worth even more and could break the current world-record transfer fee if he was to leave.

It was former team-mate Angel Di Maria who cast the winger’s future into doubt, as he said this about the Poruguese man: “I don’t know how much longer Ronaldo can put up with it at Madrid.

“I get the impression that he is not very happy.”

Chelsea would more than happily sign Ronaldo and could potentially offer Hazard in some kind of swap deal, but if Ronaldo was to return to the Prem, he would much prefer a move to old club Man United. The player himself said this last week about the Red Devils: “I love Manchester. Everyone knows that. Manchester is in my heart. I left many good friends there.

“The supporters are amazing and I wish I can come back one day.”

Only time will tell if Ronaldo does make a move away from Spain and whether Hazard makes the move to the Bernabeu or not.

Ronaldo ‘on-track to rejoin United’

0

Cristiano Ronaldo is reportedly ‘on-track’ to make a return to Manchester United next summer.

Ronaldo’s agent Jorge Mendes, whos clients also include Angel di Maria and Falcao, has apparently made up his mind deciding that all of those players will be at Old trafford in years time.

Mendes orchestrated James Rodriguez’s move to Real earlier this summer but has since invoked the ire of the Spanish giant’s president Florentino Perez.

Perez was unhappy that Mendes allowed Di Maria to publish an open letter seemingly criticising Real upon leaving for Manchester United and then bristled when asked why he had failed to sign Falcao.

Indeed, Perez responded to that question by saying: “If we had signed Falcao, we may as well have made Mendes president.”

Now there are suggestions that Mendes’ actions may be the result of a carefully plan to get Ronaldo back to United next summer.

The Manchester outfit are believed to have set aside ÂŁ55m to fund a move for their former player, who himself has spoken of his desire to return “one day”.

Increasingly, it looks as though Mendes is laying the groundwork to ensure that that move comes sooner rather than later.

Mourinho criticised by Valdano

0

Former Real Madrid director Jorge Valdano has slammed Chelsea boss Jose Mourinho over his time in Spain.

Mourinho and Valdano shared an explosive relationship during ‘the special one’s’ reign as Madrid boss, and Valdano has not held back, hitting out at the boss in his latest book, The Eleven Powers Of The Leader.

“I’ve never heard in public or in private a football statement from Mourinho worthy to be remembered,” Valdano wrote, as quoted by Marca.

“He is a character tailored to these noisy and empty times.”

“I couldn’t understand him because he is in the antipodes of my sensitivity. Intelligence and ego are enemies. And when they collide, the ego wins.”

And he thinks Mourinho’s achievements pale in comparison to that of Guardiola.”

“If Guardiola is Mozart, Mourinho is [Italian composer Antonio] Salieri. He would be a great musician if there were no Mozart,” he added.

Loic Remy blasts Liverpool!

0

Remy was poised to join the Reds this summer, but a deal collapsed after a heart problem was detected during his medical.

Remy ended up joining Chelsea after they met his ÂŁ8.5million release clause.

But Remy is still at a loss to understand why the deal did not materialise, and thinks Liverpool were ‘dishonest’ on their part.

“I did not understand Liverpool’s decision. It was not very honest from their side,” Remy told The Sun.

“I was not scared. I know exactly what I have, I met all the specialists in the world.

“A lot of players share the same situation as mine and Liverpool know it.”

Cesc Fabregas hails Arsenal target Munir El-Haddadi

0

19-year-old has enjoyed a sensational start to the season making a scoring debut for Barcelona and being called up to the Spanish squad for the European Championship qualifier against FYR Macedonia.

He made his international debut last night during the 5-1 victory, replacing Koke in the 77th minute.

Arsenal boss Arsene Wenger has kept tabs on the starlet for more than year and is believed to be interested in bringing him to the Emirates.

Former Gunners hero Fabregas believes Munir is “special” after witnessing him first hand in training.

“Munir really is something special. From what I’ve seen of him in training, he is a really good player,” he said.

“It’s all gone pretty fast for him, but people have only been saying good things about him. He doesn’t seem to feel any pressure and feels comfortable around his Barcelona team-mates.

“He can play both on the wing and in the centre. His awareness and movement is superb and is excellent at finding space.”

Following the comfortable victory, Munir revealed he had fulfilled a childhood dream having turned down overtures from Morocco – the country of his father’s birth.

“I never doubted about playing for Spain,” he said. “I was born here and I am very happy to have made my debut.

“To play for Spain was my own decision. I knew what it meant (ruling out a future Morocco appearance) to appear for Spain. This is a childhood dream come true.”

Diego Costa admits he could have joined Liverpool

0

Chelsea star Diego Costa has revealed how he came close to joining Liverpool last Summer.

The Spaniard, who joined The Blues this year after an impressive season in La Liga, has admitted in a recent interview that he came close to signing for Liverpool last year after Brendan Rodgers made an offer for him.

Rodgers, who had spent a period of time scouting the Spaniard, was left impressed with the striker’s performances and lodged a formal ÂŁ21million bid for the 25-year-old, but the striker wasn’t keen on making the move after finally breaking into the Madrid’s first-team.

The year prior to Rodgers’ interest, Costa scored 10 goals in La Liga and he has admitted that interest from Liverpool came in last Summer.

He said: “I was close to leaving, Liverpool are a great team.

“But after fighting so hard and overcoming difficulties to get my place at Atletico, how could I leave?

“I thought it was very important to keep growing at the Colchoneros [Atletico Madrid], and play here for many years.”

Costa has already scored four goals for Chelsea in just three Premier League appearances.

Juventus and Real Madrid rival over Liverpool right-back Glen Johnson’s signature

0

Johnson is yet to be offered a new deal at Anfield, and this has sparked much specualtion over the Englishman’s future at Liverpool, with Juventus and Real Madrid emerging as most interested in the right-back. With Jon Flanagan showing a lot of promise and summer signings Moreno and Manquillo also showing their worth, a move for the 30-year-old isn’t to be ruled out.

According to reports across Europe, Juventus and Real Madrid are both trying to convince Johnson to a move abroad in the similar fashion of Ashley Cole, who left Chelsea for Italian side Roma in the summer. Johnson will be available on a free transfer at the end of the season if he isn’t to be handed a new contract by Brendan Rodgers, but both the European giants are believe they can lure the England International away from Merseyside for a nominal fee.

Despite the interest that is being showed by the two clubs, it remains uncertain whether Johnson will want a move abroad or prefer to stay in England.

Sporting President travels to Manchester expected to resume negotiations over William Carvalho transfer

0

The club president, Bruno de Carvalho, is speaking at the Soccerex Global Conference about ‘how to run a successful club’, and it is expected that Manchester United assistant boss Ryan Giggs will be in attendance as well as Liverpool CEO Ian Ayre.

Many reports in Portugal have hinted at discussions over Carvalho’s future being at the top of the agenda for all the club representatives, with potential offers even being at the subject of submittion.

It is believed that there will be a momunmental scramble for the 21-year-old’s siganuture with the Portuguese’s ÂŁ37 million release clause in his contract expiring at the end of the summer transfer window.

Indeed it is expected that de Carvalho will set some groundwork for a future move for his key asset, but it is still unclear what Carvalho’s agent, Jorge Mendes makes of the situation.

It is now to be seen whether or not de Carvlaho is successful in his bid to sell his star man for a high fee, but of course, no move could take place until the re-opening of the transfer window in January.

Manchester United to take ÂŁ13m hit on Juan Mata

0

Manchester United could be set to make a ÂŁ13million loss on Spaniard Juan Mata, as they consider selling him for just ÂŁ24m.

The Red Devils signed Mata back in January from Chelsea for ÂŁ37m, but after failing to match his Stamford Bridge form, Louis Van Gaal may be set to sell the 26-year-old, with his first-team place in jeopardy.

With Radamel Falcao and Angel Di Maria both coming into Old Trafford this Summer, it’s believed that Mata will be sacrificed and dropped to the bench in order to start both new signings.

According to reports, Serie A champions, Juventus, are favourites to land the Spaniard, and are considering making a ÂŁ24m bid in January, once the transfer window re-opens.

However, there are also talks that United could offer Mata as part of a swap-deal for long-term target, Arturo Vidal.

Juventus will face serious competition for Mata’s signature though as Spanish duo; Atletico Madrid and Valencia are also interested in landing the play-maker.

Morgan Schneiderlin admits he would’ve left Southampton

0

Southampton midfielder Morgan Schneiderlin has admitted that he was disappointed after being unable to leave the South Coast club this summer.

The Saints had an extremely active transfer window, having seen Rickie Lambert, Adam Lallana and Dejan Lovren join Liverpool, Luke Shaw leaving for Manchester United and Calum Chambers joining Arsenal.

And Schneiderlin also expected his name to be on the list of departures, after being heavily linked with moves to North London pair Arsenal and Tottenham Hotspur for the majority of the summer window.

The Frenchman said recently: “My situation was simple: at the end of the season my goal was to take the next step and join a club playing in the Champions League or the UEFA Cup.”

“There were offers on the table but Southampton made a clear choice, which was to keep me after the departure of certain players.”

However, the 24 year-old now says he’s commited at the club, after admitting it’s difficult to kick up a fuss at the team that made him the player he is today.

“I could not afford to make a fuss and not play. I owe a lot to Southampton, who enabled me to make the France national team.

“I could not afford to go and clash with supporters who have always been cool with me.

“It would not have cool for me to end up in an endless showdown.”

With three years remaining on his contract it will be difficult for the Frenchman to force a move, but with Southampton’s impressive recruitment over the summer, he might not want to leave should the new side gel into a similair one that won them so many plaudits last season.

Real Madrid eye January move for Robin Van Persie

0

Real Madrid are being linked with a ÂŁ20 million raid on Manchester United for their Dutch forward Robin Van Persie once the January transfer window is open.

Van Persie had looked set to play a key role under compatriot boss Louis Van Gaal this season, after the two struck up a strong relationship during Van Gaal’s tenure as the international manager.

However, with the surprise last minute addition of Falcao, it now raises question marks about how much game time the former Arsenal man will get, facing competition from Wayne Rooney, Juan Mata and Falcao for a starting berth.

Madrid have only just recently addeded a Manchester United forward to their squad in the shape of Mexican Javier Hernandez, and FIFA agent Francois Gallardo believes the Champions League holders will return for Van Persie come January.

According to Gallardo, Madrid are already putting aside the ÂŁ20 million required to buy the 31 year-old from Old Trafford, who again would face stiff competition for his place should he move to the Spanish capital.

With the Dutchman’s injury past, United may be tempted to cash in on Van Persie whilst his value remains high, although he would take some tempting to leave the club where he won his first Premier League title with in 2013.

‘Chelsea made an offer for me’, reveals Benatia

0

Bayern Munich defender Mehdi Benatia has revealed that both Chelsea and Manchester City made a formal offer for him whilst he was with AS Roma earlier in the Summer.

The Moroccan international told both English clubs that he wanted to remain in Italy with Roma, but near the end of the transfer window, he secured his switch to Germany and joined Bundesliga champions, Bayern Munich.

Munich ended up spending ÂŁ21million on the centre-back, and in a recent interview, Benatia has admitted that interest was high in his services.

“I discussed my future with sporting director Walter Sabatini,” Benatia told German publication Kicker.

“He told me the club wanted to hold on to me but that there was a need to sell me to make money.

“That bothered me, because I wanted to stay.

“Manchester City and Chelsea wanted me, while there were also approaches from Real Madrid and Barcelona.

“But let it be clear, I was happy to join Bayern Munich, although here it is a bit cold.”

Manchester United were also interested in the 27-year-old throughout the Summer, but they turned to Marcos Rojo instead as a cheaper alternative.
