Javier Hernandez set for United stay

0

Manchester United striker Javier Hernandez is set to remain a United player, despite his lack of game-time at Old Trafford.

There was a lot of speculation linking the Mexican international with a January exit from Manchester United, but the player’s agent has spoken out and revealed that no move is on the cards this month.

Hernandez, who has one of the best goals-to-minutes ratio in the Premier League, has fallen down the pecking order under David Moyes due to Robin Van Persie, Wayne Rooney and even Danny Welbeck.

With the World Cup in the Summer, it was believed that Hernandez may seek a move away in order to get game-time, but according to his agent, no moves are on the cards.

“I had meetings with a few clubs, I won’t name them nor their offers, they are very interested in him. One of the top ten teams in the world are among those teams that were very interested in signing Javier.

“There was a club from Germany, one from France, and two from Spain and Italy each that want to have him. However, he is under contract with Man Utd and he somehow has to respect it in case there is an agreement between the parties.”

“I couldn’t say that for sure, football is dynamic and his current situation could change tomorrow, so there are clubs that are interested, that like him a lot and trust him to succeed.

“He has achieved a high value in Europe’s market and I can’t say that there won’t be anything concrete after the next six months. However, we do hope he gets minutes [on the pitch].”

Norwich City star launches attack on club

0

Norwich City midfielder Wesley Hoolahan has launched a scathing attack on the club after they rejected his transfer request earlier this month.

The Irish midfielder made it clear that he wanted to leave Carrow Road this month in order to join Aston Villa so that  he could work with Paul Lambert once again, but his request was declined by The Canaries.

Villa then made a formal bid for the midfielder which was also turned down, and now it is believed that Hoolahan has slated the club to a TV reporter and claimed that the club is a ‘f*****g s**t club’.

The midfielder was asked if he would be clearing out his locker today ahead of a possible move, and he replied with: ‘I hope so, this is a f*****g s**t club’.

Reporters then made the situation known to Chris Hughton, and he had this to say on the matter:

‘What you are telling me is news to me. It is not something I am aware of and is something I will have to investigate,’ said Hughton.

‘What I have always been able to do is front the media on something I have knowledge of and can speak of in an appropriate and correct way.’

Hughton added: ‘We know it is an unsettling time for players in that situation (out of the team), but it won’t be the first or the last time you have to deal with situations like that, and it is my responsibility as the manager (to do so).

‘There are always going to be procedures you have at the club, whether a player wants to go or whether the club want to keep that particular player.

‘At this moment, Wes is very much a Norwich player ‘

Reds Ukranian Target is a ‘Headless Chicken,’ Says Arsenal Retiree

0

The £15million-rated versatile midfielder would be a waste of resources as his playing style is believed to be more suited in other leagues in Europe.

“I don’t think the English league is right for him,” said Luzhny.

“Konoplyanka’s style of play is better suited to Italy or Spain. The game in England is totally different – it’s about power. You have to run back and forth, back and forth. You run at speed up and down, and it’s like that for 90 minutes.”

Konoplyanka showed a decent performance against England in a previous meeting, scoring a goal in the process, but Luzhny was quick to expose his perceived weakness in a different match.

“I saw how he played in the [World Cup qualification playoff] second leg against France, when Ukraine lost 3-0, and he was like a headless chicken,” he opined.

“It is a completely different level. When you play in the Ukraine, you can afford not to run.”

Lescott to stay at City.

0

Joleon Lescott will see out the remainder of his contract at Manchester City, despite interest from various Premier League clubs.

Lescott was heavilly linked with West Ham United during the transfer window, but has opted to stay at the title chasers.

City were all for letting Lescott leave the Etihad to gain regular first team football.

Fulham, Tottenham and Turkish side Besiktas were also interested in the Wolverhampton born man.

However, West Ham United were close to sealing a deal, with Allardyce pursuing a deal for the defender, in a proposed loan deal.

Lescott will see out his contract, before leaving on a free in the summer.

He has made just seven appearances for City, but could end the campaign with a couple more winners’ medals as the Blues chase the quadruple.

Liverpool linked with £20m move for Atletico man

0

According to the Liverpool Echo, highly coveted Turk, Arda Turan is being tracked by Brenden Rodgers for a potential move.

Turan has been one of the standout performers in La Liga and has been targeted by the Merseyside club as a result. Despite not having brought any new players through the door, Liverpool are keen to land the Turkish international’s signature.

Turan would be a key signing as Rodgers’ side push for a top four finish and face some tough matches in the coming weeks such as Arsenal.

The Reds were set to sign Egyptian midfielder Mohamed Salah for £12m just last week, before Chelsea came in and landed his signature. This was a huge setback for Rodgers, who was hopeful of bringing in a talented midfielder, and has now moved onto Turan, who has featured in 18 of Atletico’s 21 league games this season.

The 27 year old midfielder has played for the Madrid side for the past 3 years and despite having renewed a contract for 2017, it is said that Atletico will listen to any offers above £20m for their prized winger.

City close to completing deal for FC Porto pair

0

According to Sports Direct News, Pellegrini’s side has nearly completed the deal to bring two Porto players to the Etihad.

Porto are renouned for making big profits from investments in relatively unknown talents, and it looks like the Portugese side may well be ready to receive more money as City are on the verge of signing 22 year old Frenchman Eliaquim Mangala and Brazilian midfielder, Fernando.

Pellegrini is clearly willing to splash the cash as the Mangala deal alone will reportedly cost £32m, a move which will help City sure up their defence as they push for the premier League crown.

Fernando had been linked with a move to both Liverpool and AC Milan, but City are reportedly looking to fight for the Brazilian’s signature. They will be looking to secure a pre-contract deal that would see him move to the Etihad on a free transfer when his contract expires this summer.

In addition to the deal, Porto will also reportedly take teenager Marcos Lopes on loan until the end of the season.

Zouma agrees deal with Chelsea.

0

Chelsea are set to complete a deal to sign St Etienne centre back Kurt Zouma, with the French youngster set to move to the Bridge in the summer.

Mourinho has agreed a fee with the Ligue 1 side for the highly rated 19 year old, in what is considered a real bargain capture.

Zouma will now stay in France until the end of the current campaign, after the deal has been tied up.

The Under 21 international has been scouted by many of europe’s top clubs, including Manchester City, Juventus, Paris St Germain and Real Madrid, however, it appears that Zouma has opted for a move to West London.

The move looks set to bring a curtain down on John Terry’s Chelsea career, with the former England captain free to talk to other clubs, with interest from various MLS sides, with Terry considering a move to the United States.

Mourinho has made no secret of the fact he would like to keep Terry but fears he could lose his captain because of the strict club policy to offer one-year contract extensions to all players over 30, with Terry several years over that line.

David Luiz has also seen his future come under question at the Bridge, with both Bayern Munich and Barcelona ready to submit a mega money move for the Brazilian.

The feisty Zouma was banned for ten games in November following a horror tackle, which left Thomas Guerbert with a broken leg, and a dislocated ankle.

We’re not even close to signing anyone, reveals Wenger

0

Speaking to the club’s official website, Arsenal boss Arsene Wenger has dealt a huge blow to the club’s fans by admitting that they are not even close to signing anybody this month.

The Gunners have been strongly linked with a move for Schalke midfielder Julian Draxler, and according to reports, representitives of Arsenal were in Germany discussing a potential deal, but according to Wenger, nothing is close to being completed for anybody.

There have also been reports linking the club with a loan move for Juventus striker Mirko Vucinic, but once again Wenger has ruled out that move being close as well.

“Are we active? Yes,” he said. “Are we close to sign anybody? No.

“There’s not long now that’s true. First, the situation was going like always in a transfer market – week by week. In the last two weeks it goes day by day, now it goes hour by hour.

“In any hour anything can happen or change but at the moment, unfortunately, we are not signing anybody.”

However, if you are an Arsenal fan, you will remember that Wenger said they were not close to signing anyone in the Summer and they captured Mesut Ozil from Real Madrid, and a couple of seasons before that they signed Everton’s Mikel Arteta.

Mourinho frustrated a West Hams tatics

0

“19th Century football” is how Jose Mourinho described Sam Allardyce and his West Hams tatics, as Chelsea were held to a goalless draw at Stamford Bridge on Wednesday evening. In a game where points where very important for both sides with Chelsea looking to remain in the hunt for top spot and the Hammers needing every point they can to avoid relegation this term. West Ham came with a plan, their intent to frustrate the Blues attack, to try to play deep and hold off Chelsea’s star studded free playing strike force of Hazard, Willan, Eto and co, and possibly try and sneak a sight of goal on a counter attack.  The statistics speak for themselves on this one with Chelsea dominating the evening and in total had 39 shots although only 9 actually on of them target and over half of them from outside the 18-yard line, in comparison to just the one loan effort from a West Hams James Tomkin’s header which didnt trouble Chelseas Petr Chech. What West Ham did, they did well, they absorbed the pressure and held strong. This was a big point to them and their manager was full of praise of his team and compared this result to the victory over Spurs earlier in the season, under current circumstances seeing West Ham leaking 17 goals in their last 5 games.

On a night where emotions were running high Jose was starting to let his frustration show, complaining to the fourth official when he annouced there was to be only 4 minutes off time to be added wanting more. Jose made his feelings known after match saying “The referees are not uniform with it, sometimes there is seven minutes, sometimes there is only two minutes, they’re not consistant “. Mourinho couldnt resist taking a swipe at West Hams approach to the game,” This is not best league in the game football, this is 19th century football, pretending injuries, goalkeepers waisting time, not in the last minute but in the first minute, ten defenders in the box, very basic football”

” Its very difficult to play a football match where only one team want to play, i told Big Sam “, Jose continued, “they need points, because they need points, to come here and not play, and to do it the way they did…is it acceptable, maybe yes. But at the same time this is not premier league, the only thing i could use would be a black and decker to break down their wall”.

Sam Allardyce feeling very pleased and proud with himself and his team and expressed his joy that he gets seeing the Chelsea boss getting frustrated, jumping around in the techincal area and as he describes “Chelsea players trying to intimidate the referee moaning, He cant take it can he? he cant take it cos we’ve ‘out-taticed’ him, we outwitted him, he just cant cope.. He told me that but he can tell me all he wants, i dont give a s*** to be honest, its brilliant to get a result against him, Hard luck Jose!”.

Mourinho did add that he hopes West Ham avoid relegation “with the two points they took from us, i hope the one minute they get actually means something for them.”

Arsene Wenger confirms Aaron Ramsey injury

0

Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger has today confirmed that midfielder Aaron Ramsey has suffered a setback in his injury and will now miss a further few weeks.

The Frenchman hasn’t set a recovery date on the Welshman, but has told the club’s official website that it is likely to be a matter of weeks rather than days or months.

Ramsey, who has been in superb form this season, picked up the injury against his former-side Cardiff City, and hasn’t returned since.

However, he was set to make the squad for Tuesday’s encounter with Southampton, but he didn’t travel and after the game Wenger confirmed that there was a setback.

Today, speaking ahead of the match with Crystal Palace on Sunday, Wenger gave the latest news on Ramsey’s condition.

“Ramsey will be out for longer because he had a setback and it doesn’t look too good. It is matter of some weeks for him.”

If Liverpool do not finish in the top four they face years in the wilderness says ex-Kop chief

0

Brendan Rodgers’ side currently occupy fourth spot in the Premier League – three points ahead of Tottenham and six of Manchester United. Their cause was helped massively on Tuesday night as Everton were swept aside 4-0 at Anfield,

but Purslow is concerned at the ‘impossible to bridge’ ever-increasing monetary gap between those who enter the continent’s premier competition and the Europa League. Arsenal, who finished fourth last year, earned around £55million after negotiating their way through the qualification stages of the Champions League this season. With that figure set to soar, Purslow is warning Liverpool cannot afford to finish outside the top four, and if they do it could set them back years.

Speaking on talkSPORT’s Alan Brazil Sports Breakfast, he said: ‘Liverpool’s issue is that they are playing with one hand tied behind their back financially because of that massive advantage the top four confers over those that miss out. ‘I haven’t seen too many people referring to it but next year that Champions League advantage becomes almost an impossible gap to bridge, so the difference between fourth and fifth could be something that lasts for generations.

The stakes are as high as they have ever been.’ That makes the need to land a player capable of impacting immediately to help stave off David Moyes’ resurgent United a priority before Friday’s transfer deadline.

Rodgers missed out on Mohamed Salah, who opted for a switch to Chelsea, but is closing in on Yevhen Konoplyanka for £20million That is the sort of statement of intent required to rival that of the £38million United splurged on Juan Mata this week, who Purslow believes will provide the stiffest competition to the Merseysiders during the run-in.

‘I think this will boil down to a United-Liverpool right to the wire [fight] for fourth,’ he added. ‘I fully expect Mata to be the turning point for United. I think he will be the first of several [big signings] and I think United will turn a corner. ‘Whether they do that in time to catch fourth will be tight but in a year’s time I think Chelsea may be wondering whether they strengthened a competitor and regret it.’

Newcastle see bid rejected for Yohan Cabaye replacement

0

Newcastle United have had a setback in their hunt for a Yohan Cabaye replacement as their £11million bid for Clement Grenier has been rejected by French side Lyon.

With Cabaye sold to mega-rich Paris Saint Germain for a fee estimated around £20million, Alan Pardew is now desperately trying to find a replacement in time before the transfer window slams shut on Friday.

His attentions were fully focused on Grenier from Lyon, who has previously been linked with Arsenal, and after tabling a bid around £11million, Pardew thought he would have found his replacement.

However today the bid was rejected and Grenier himself has admitted that he doesn’t want a move to Newcastle.

‘I haven’t got a lot to say on that subject. I’m not aware of Newcastle negotiations,’ Grenier said.

‘I have lots of objectives and I need to achieve them with Lyon this year.

‘I can nearly say I’m not going to Newcastle.’

Pep Guardiola admits Manchester United target could leave!

0

Bayern Munich manager Pep Guardiola has refused to deny that midfielder Toni Kroos could be on his way out of the club in the Summer, with Premier League side Manchester United heavily interested.

The German international appeared to react badly to being substituted during Bayern Munich’s game with Stuttgart, and is also out of contract next Summer with no contract talks planned in the near-future.

When asked about Kroos’ future, Guardiola refused to rule out a potential transfer and claimed that anything could happen in football.

“He is an important player but things can move fast in football,” he said.

“Here today, gone tomorrow.”

United manager David Moyes has been on a couple of scouting trips to Germany to watch Kroos, but a potential deal looks more likely to happen in the Summer, rather than this month.

Mata has lifted the mood, says Jones

0

Manchester United defender Phil Jones has admitted that the signing of Juan Mata from Chelsea has given the players the boost they needed during a crucial part of their season.

The Red Devils have not had a great campaign as of yet, but after signing Mata for just under £40million, the atmosphere around the camp has certainly changed and after Tuesday night’s victory, they only find themselves six-points off fourth place.

Mata made an instant impact on Tuesday night againt Cardiff City by grabbing an assist for one of the goals, and after the game, Jones admitted that every United player is trying to prove to the Spaniard that he joined the right club.

“It makes an impact in the dressing room when you sign a player of that calibre,” says Phil Jones.

“He is such a talented player on the ball. He has definitely lifted spirits in the dressing room and especially in training. We want to impress and show him that we are what we are, that we are one of the best teams to be at.

“He came in against Cardiff and did well and I am sure he will be a huge asset for us. He will have an impact in the future. There are no two ways about that. He will be a fantastic player for Manchester United, hopefully for many years to come.

“Juan sees the pass that sometimes no-one else sees. If he continues to make them I am sure we will soon be climbing the table.”
